Avatar Analysis

·        The first thing that catches my eye with this poster is the creature on the left side due to it having a green eye which stands out compared to the rest of the page. This then allows me to pick up on the male to the right hand side of the poster.

·        With poster of the images at the top of the page fading into to one another implies they are even the same person our have close and equal relationship within the film.

·        The plant that is sat faded into the background behind the protagonist gives off a message that the film has the possibility of being out of the world and amongst another way of life. The creature to the left also helps to portray this image.

·        Just at the top of the page where the dark colouring (black) appears as the two images stop fading into each other you are able to clearly see the white text due to it contrasting colours being used and therefore standing out on the page. The text mentions other extremely successful films that have been produced by the director (James Cameron, where you find his name mentioned above the title on the film being advertised).

·        Although you can tell there is some form of relationship between the characters/protagonists’ on the poster, the colouring of blue used on both implies a cold and unwelcoming presence. There straight and un-emotional face also helps to portray this feeling/image towards the audience.

·        But as the images progresses downwards towards the bottom of the poster the colouring changes into purples, oranges, yellows (like a sunrise or set). This then gives of a warm and welcoming feel. This could inform the audience there is a dark and cold side to the film as well as happiness and joy.

·        To help with the message of the film being out of this world you can pick up on the dark silhouettes of rockery ground floating in the air and the creature that seems to be flying at the bottom on the poster but above the title of the film.

·        Keeping to the theme and making the work flow, the text of the titling of the film has remained the same blue the characters/protagonists are shown filtered with. I believe this gives off a message that they are the reasoning and the key to the film being titled what it was.

·        To also make the title of the film and to add to the fact it is different the style font used for the name ‘Avatar’ is different to the rest of the text on the page. The audience could read this as expect change.

·        And just like the top on the page the bottom of the page fades into dark colour (black) so the text at the bottom can contrast well against it due to the text being white.
